Three accused get life imprisonment for murder, Western Cape High court

The Western Cape High yesterday, 31 October 2023, sentenced three men, Keenan van Rooi, Jevon Loggenstein and Jeremy van Wyk to life imprisonment for murder, 15 years’ for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and five years’ for the illegal possession of ammunition.

These sentences were imposed on the trio following a shooting incident on 06 April 2019, where the accused shot and killed a man in Doncaster Road, Kenilworth and fled the scene. A high-speed chased ensued and the three suspects were apprehended. The case was assigned to Warrant Officer Jerome Kleinbooi of the Anti-Gang Unit to lead the investigation into the murder. He gathered all the evidence and started his investigation and during court proceedings he proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused committed the murder. They were found guilty on 25 October 2023. The sentences imposed will run concurrently.

These sentences are deemed a deterrent to those who find themselves on the wrong side of the law in this Province.
