The management of the SAPS in Mpumalanga has gladly welcomed the hefty sentence imposed by the Nkomazi Regional Court upon Sthembiso Nkuna (35) who will spend the next 15 years’ behind bars for stabbing his friend, Richard Sibiya (23) on 26 December 2015 in the Nkomazi area. Sadly, a few days later Sibiya succumbed to the injuries in February 2016.
The court heard details on how, on that dreadful morning, the accused violently attacked his friend at a certain tavern in Langeloop near Tonga. The victim was then taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
A murder case was then opened at Tonga Police Station and an investigation was conducted which eventually led to the arrest of the accused.
The court convicted Nkuna hence the sentencing on 19 October 2023.
The SAPS management in Mpumalanga has further applauded the Investigation team, the Prosecution team as well as the Judiciary for the exceptional work done in this case which culminated into this harsh sentence.
