Community cooperation and information, led to the recovery of a firearm and an arrest of an elderly man.
On Monday, 13 November 2023 at about 04:40, Welkom Public Order Policing platoon 5, section 2 followed information to Makwane in the Phuthaditjhaba area.
Information led members to a house and upon arrival, the house was searched. While searching, they found a Norinco Pistol with ammunition. The 52-year-old male was arrested and will appear in the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate’s Court soon.
The firearm will be taken for ballistic tests to determine if it was not used in the commission of other crimes.
