Bronville rapist slapped with two life in jail sentences for raping a minor

The Acting Lejweleputswa District Commissioner, Brigadier Envor Solomon applauded Warrant Officer Thabiso Twala of Thabong Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for securing a good conviction imposed on a 27-year-old foreign national.

On the 31 August 2022 at approximately 15:30 a 13-year-old girl was on her way home in Hani Park when she passed through the back opposite of her parents’ home. She heard a sound and looked around. She saw a man known to her as Tinto who was standing next to his shack.

Tinto called her and told the girl to follow him. He entered his shack and the girl stood by the door. Tinto grabbed and pulled her inside and closed the door. The girl was forced onto the bed and was raped even though the child was pleading with him to stop. After the ordeal, he told the girl not to tell anyone.

The second time, about a week later after the first rape ordeal, the girl was playing with a friend where Tinto lives. The boy was called by someone and the girl was left alone. Tinto saw a chance and called the girl to his shack again and raped her. She was instructed again not to tell anyone about what happened.

The girl dressed up and left but reported the incident to her grandmother who instantly informed Bronville police. The perpetrator, Tenfani Dlowayo was arrested and has since been appearing in Welkom court and was found guilty as charged.

He was sentenced to life for rape, another life for sexual assault and six months imprisonment for illegal immigration.
