The police have arrested a 27-year-old man for the alleged murder of an elderly woman (92) at Matshekeng Village in Makwane in Qwaqwa after a suspicious stolen television and blood stained knife were found in his home.
It’s alleged that on 25 November 2023 at about 21:00 police were summoned to a certain house at Matshekeng Village where a complaint of a person killed in the house was reported.
Upon their arrival at the crime scene police found the body of an elderly woman with stab wounds on her body together with a broken knife near her body. She was discovered by her grandson who stays with her.
It’s further alleged that he left his grandmother alive alone in the house at about 14:30. When he returns home at about 20:30 he found her lifeless body on the floor inside the house and discovered that a 32 inch plasma television was stolen.
The preliminary investigations were conducted which led police to trace the suspicious person in the same area. He was traced, found and took police to his home where police positively found a 32 inch plasma television, blood stained half knife blade and black trouser which were seized as exhibits.
The 27- year-old suspect was arrested and will be charged and expected to appear before the Makwane Magistrates’ court on Monday, 27 November 2023 facing charge of murder and possession of suspected stolen property.
