The Police in Mpumalanga are continuing with Operation Shanela and one cannot ignore its impact in the fight against crime. As a result three suspects, aged between 23 and 41 were arrested by the Police in Daggakraal after being found in possession of sheep carcasses. The trio was nabbed on Saturday, 02 December 2023 at about 09h00 am.
According to the report Daggakraal Police received information about the three suspects allegedly transporting stolen stock (sheep). Police followed the information and spotted a vehicle with three occupants. After stopping the car, a search was conducted and it was during this time when some sheep carcasses were found in the boot of the vehicle. The three were then arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen properties.
Preliminary investigation led the police to a nearby farm where the sheep were allegedly slaughtered and a discovery of about four sheep skins were made. The astute members further discovered that two sheep carcasses were already delivered somewhere. The investigation is still ongoing and part of the probe is to locate the owner of the stolen sheep.
The three suspects are expected to appear at the Amersfoort Magistrate’s Court today, 04 December 2023.
