Police track down four vehicles reportedly stolen and hijacked in Limpopo

Members of SAPS Limpopo Provincial Vispol Task Team together with other police units, tracked down four vehicles including a truck reportedly stolen and hijacked respectively at Namakgale, Masemola and Marble Hall policing precincts.

In the early hours of Sunday, 17 December 2023, the victim was driving his blue VW Polo with three other occupants from Mashishimale to Namakgale, when the suspects driving behind them fired gun shots at their vehicle. While trying to escape the victim’s vehicle got stuck into a ditch.

Subsequently, the suspects armed with firearms, searched the victims and robbed them of their cellphones. They then pulled the driver out of the vehicle and dragged him into the nearby bushes leaving other victims in the vehicle.

The suspects shot him while in the bushes and fled the scene.

Police were notified and he was found with a gunshot wound on his upper body. He was transported to hospital for medical treatment. His vehicle was found at the scene.

Another incident transpired at Namakgale, on Saturday, 16 December 2023 at around 20:00, the owner of a grey Toyota Fortuner was at his friend’s house in Hamyville location, when two armed suspects intruded into the house and kidnapped them.

The suspects drove with the three victims into the nearby bushes and demanded money. Their families were contacted to pay a cash of R10,000.00 to release the victims. In the process, suspects robbed another victim off his belongings while with the three victims.

All victims were rescued by the police and the grey Toyota Fortuner was recovered by the Provincial Vispol Task Team and Namakgale Detectives.

In Marble Hall, police received an alert about a truck stolen while at the shopping mall parking lot area. Suspects were traced and found driving a white company truck at R573, Siyabuswa in Mpumalanga policing area. The owner of the truck was informed, but on his arrival, he did not want to open the case, as the truck had stock to be delivered. The suspects were then released.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, 16 December 2023, Provincial Vispol Task Team and Vehicle Tracking Team recovered a khaki Toyota Legend 45′ vehicle that was hijacked in Masemola policing area during this month.

Reportedly, the police were alerted about the hijacking incident, an operation to trace the vehicle was launched. It was then recovered abandoned at Malope village also under Masemola.
