Father and son arrested for stock theft

In an effort to curb the continuous stock theft in our communities, an intelligence driven operation led to an arrest of a father (69) and his son (29) at Mncwasa locality outside Mqanduli.

The two suspects were arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen stock which included 42 sheep and 7 goats with an estimated value of R50 400-00. The suspects were also found in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Seven sheep were identified by their two rightful owners who had reported their stolen stock. The duo appeared at Mqanduli magistrate court on Friday, 22 December 2023, on charges of stock theft.

Police are appealing to anyone who has lost/stolen stock to visit the Mqanduli Municipality stock pound during office hours to identify his/her stock. Make sure that you are in possession of a South African bar-coded identity document and stock card.
