Suspect behind bars for drug and firearm-related charges

Continued efforts to bring perpetrators of the law to book landed a 37-year-old man behind bars on Thursday, 25 January 2024.

Yesterday at about 11:45 members attached to Brackenfell Crime Information Management and Analysis Centre (CIMAC) together with the Provincial Crime Intelligence, conducted an intelligent driven operation at a premises in Maple Crescent, Vredekloof, Brackenfell. This was after information was received that the premises is used as a drug storage facility.

The members pounced on the identified address where they ensued with a search of the premises during which they discovered a hydroponic laboratory where large quantities of magic mushrooms and dagga were being cultivated. The members also discovered 123 rounds of ammunition and a firearm trigger mechanism and prohibited steroids on the premises.

Subsequent to the discovery, the members arrested a 37-year-old man who was found on the premises. The suspect faces charges relating to the illegal possession and the manufacturing of drugs as well as for the illegal and possession of ammunition and steroids.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in Kuilsrivier magistratesā€™ Court on Monday 29 January 2024.
