My role in Fijian villagers gaining independence from overseas investors in their tourism industry

Before 2000 tourism in Fiji was monopolised by foreign investors in large hotel complexes like the Warwick hotel on the coral coast and the Fijian hotel (both on the main island of Viti Levu). I established an online business called Fijibure.com which drew tourists, at a fraction of the price, to an authentic village homestays. The village homestays market has since exploded as you will see on web sites like AirBNB. Outside tourism Fiji water is the country’s most lucrative export as Fijian water is as pure as you can get.
