Recently, during a joint crime prevention operation involving the local Community Policing Forum, Midrand SAPS, JMPD, Castle Kyalami security and Aragon Security Group, a suspect in possession of a stolen vehicle was apprehended. The joint operation is part of a long standing relationship between Midrand police and the community to rid of crime in their area.
Tired of the increase of crime, the Midrand community has been working together to mitigate and safeguard their beloved homes. In continuing their dedication to a crime free Midrand, the community police forums took part in a joint Vehicle Checkpoint (VCP) with Midrand SAPS and JMPD which turned out to be success.
The operation, began around 19h30 in the evening were all the CPF members, Midrand SAPS, JMPD and other Kyalami private security members, gathered at the local Kyalami Corner where the Brigadier thanked them for their contribution in keeping the community safe. The vehicle Check point (VCP) operation, which is basically a roadblock to detect and remove criminal activity from the area was conducted around the Midrand community setting up roadblocks in various locations.
As they were conducting the operation, private security from Castle Kyalami pulled over a suspicious driver. After extensive questioning, the driver could not provide a valid driver’s license and brandished a fake ID. The vehicles details were run through the police database and it was confirmed that the vehicle he was driving had been in fact been hijacked just 4 days earlier.
“These joint operations in collaboration with the CPF and the Police have been very instrumental in keeping crime under check in our community. We have been working together for a while now and together we are contributing to lessening crime in Midrand,” said Kyle Grover from Castle Kyalami Security.
The vehicle was recovered and the driver along with his passenger were arrested on the spot facing charges of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, pending further investigation.
Another vehicle was recovered later in the evening on Riversands Boulevard.
The members vow to continue their partnership in hopes of a better and safer Midrand.
Since 2019, the Church of Scientology’s Castle Kyalami, has worked closely with law enforcement to increase the security in the area providing 24/7 support and assistance to increase safety in the community.
Community relations officer for Castle Kyalami, Alice Meiring said, “The unity in Midrand extends beyond community safety. We kept each other alive during the pandemic and ever since then, we work together to address issues in the community. It is a pleasure to be part of this hardworking and tightknit neighborhood. As L. Ron Hubbard said, “ Only when we can fully trust each other will there be peace on earth.”
