A 29-year-old male was arrested for drinking and driving, and possession of unlicensed firearm.
On Saturday, 03 February 2024 at about 04:30, whilst Fezile Dabi District Highway Patrol Relief (A) members were performing their duties along the R57 road towards Vanderbijlpark direction. Members came across a motor vehicle accident where a VW Golf 5 collided with a truck.
Members interviewed both drivers and discovered that the VW Golf driver was under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was arrested on the spot for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Members found an unlicensed firearm and three live rounds of ammunition in possession of the suspect. The suspect is detained and will make his first court appearance on Monday, 05 February 2024 at Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court.
