One(1) person was critically injured as a result of a drive-by shooting this afternoon on R102 near the Broadlands Intersection.
Upon arrival of Emergency Services, the driver, an adult male, had several gunshot wounds, while a youngster in the passenger seat was severely traumatised but escaped injury.
Medics from private ambulance services together with Netcare 911 advanced life support medics provided assistance to the victim.
Medics worked quickly to stabilise the injured victim before requesting that the patient be flown to a level 1 trauma centre.
The route was closed for the aeromedical helicopter landing, which had a significant impact on traffic.
The circumstances leading up to the incident cannot be confirmed at this time, and the scene had been handed over to relevant authorities.
