e-Hailing driver shot dead in Pietermaritzburg

Mi7 National Group’s Emergency Medical Services was dispatched after Mi7 Armed Response units requested medical assistance at a crime scene.

Mi7 medics made their way to Queen Street, where they found Mi7 Armed Response teams and local police around a stationary vehicle in which the driver appeared unconscious.

Upon assessment, medics found that the 34-year-old man had sustained several gunshot wounds.

He was declared deceased on scene.

It is believed the driver was working for a popular e-hailing service. He had fetched a passenger from the France area during the early hours of the morning and shared his live location with friends and colleagues. However, when the location failed to update, they became concerned and began searching for him.

Police are currently investigating the matter. We pass our condolences to the loved ones of the deceased….
