Police arrest three suspects and confiscate livestock

On Tuesday March 5, 2024, the police took decisive action in response to a tipoff regarding wanted suspects involved in house robbery and stock theft, leading to the arrest of three suspects. This critical information was promptly shared with the police in Tshilwavhusiku, ultimately resulting in the successful apprehension of the suspects within the Tshilwavhusiku policing area.

During the arrest, one suspect sustained injuries and was promptly transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Additionally, the police recovered suspected stolen property, including 8 goats, 1 torch, and 1 small puppy. These items have been seized and returned to their rightful owner as part of the ongoing investigation.

Subsequently, they proceeded to the Matoks area to gather further intelligence. Upon arrival, the main suspect was identified; however, he managed to evade arrest. Intensive efforts are currently underway to locate and apprehend this known suspect

Following a search at the suspectā€™s residence, 8 goats and 2 sheep were discovered promptly returned to their rightful owner, marking a significant recovery of stolen livestock.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the police for their swift actions resulting in the arrest and confiscation of stolen livestock. Lieutenant General Hadebe underscored the importance of safeguarding farmers, who play a pivotal role in our community as food producers. Stock theft poses a significant threat to food security in our country and has far-reaching implications for both the farming community and society as a whole.

Sikhau Azwihangwisi Edward (26), Thetjeni Chester (36) and Thenjeni Tumelo Ishmael (27), appeared before Tshilwavhusiku Magistrateā€™s Court on Wednesday, 06 March 2024, and they were remanded in custody and will make another appearance on 13 March 2024 for bail application and further investigations by Police.

On Thursday, 07 March 2024, they will appear before Makhado Magistrateā€™s Court for house robbery case.
