Court absconder sought by the Secunda Hawks for possession of rhino horns

Junior Gorge Mabele Chauke (42), originally from Giyani- Limpopo Province, is sought by the Hawks Secunda based Serious Organised Crime Investigation for possession of rhino horns.

Chauke and his co-accused Prince Ntsako Letswele(33), were arrested by Ermelo SAPS members on 8 December 2022, following information received.

The team spotted a vehicle fitting the description and they stopped it. The occupants tried to escape but they were apprehended.

The vehicle was searched and six rhino horns with an estimated value of R876 000 were found hidden and were confiscated.

The duo were then arrested and detained.

They appeared in court on several occasions and later were released on bail respectively.

Letswele was re-arrested on a Piet Retief criminal case committed while on bail. He remains in custody.

Chauke appeared in court on several occassions and later absonded court. A warrant of his arrest was authirised on 1 March 2024.

The Provincial Head of the Hawks Major General Gerber is reguesting Chauke to come forward and hand himself over to authorities. He further requests members of the public to assist with information about the wherabouts of Chauke by contacting the investigating Officer Warrant Officer RR Mokoena on 082 303 9965.

General Gerber assured the public that all information received will be dealt with confidentially.
