Continued interventions to create a safe environment for all inhabitants in the Western Cape Province yielded success when police confiscated yet another firearm on Friday morning, 15 March 2024.
Members Attached to the Anti-Gang Unit deployed in the Lentegeur area to combat gang violence conducted an intelligence driven operation in Kneupelhout Street, Lentegeur. On arrival at the premises, they ensued with a search which resulted in the confiscation of a firearm with 51 rounds of ammunition. A 23-year-old man was detained for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Furthermore the members conducted a tracing operation for wanted suspects in Lentegeur where they arrested two suspects, aged 21 and 28, on attempted murder charges.
The suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ court on Monday 18 March 2024.
Members of the Maitland Flying Squad with the assistance of the owner of a Toyota Hilux light delivery vehicle, arrested an adult male for the possession of a hijacked vehicle and a signal jamming device on Friday 15 March 2024. The vehicle was traced by the owner who requested the assistance of the police. The vehicle was intercepted in Spine Road, Khayelitsha.
Once charged, the suspect will make a court appearance in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court.
