On Friday, 29 March 2024 at about 19:45, Ladybrand police received a disturbing call about a shooting incident at one of the local Taverns in Manyatseng Ladybrand.
It is alleged that a male person had an argument with one of the patrons inside the Tavern and subsequently went to his residential place in Manyatseng where he took his private pistol and returned to the tavern. Upon his arrival at the Tavern he started shooting randomly inside the Tavern injuring eight victims. All victims aged between 26 and 45 sustained serious injuries however, two are critical. The 36-year-old suspect was traced and arrested at his parent’s house in Manyatseng. The suspect was charged with eight counts of attempted murder and his firearm was seized.
Investigations are underway to determine the exact ages and identities of the victims. The suspect will appear in court soon.
