Members of Welkom Anti-Gang Unit were given the warrant of arrest by Welkom Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit to assist in tracing a fraudster and motor vehicle who has been on the run from the SAPS.
The Warrant of arrest was operationalised on the 01 April 2024 at about 11:00 when the members followed information from their informers to a house Leipoldt Street in Welkom.
Members of Welkom Anti-Gang Unit made the house owner aware of their presence but ignored them. Members jumped over the palisades, as they had positive information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect.
The suspect was found inside the house. A 37-year-old white male was arrested for Theft of motor vehicle and Fraud of a case registered during September 2023 in Virginia. The suspect will appear on the 03 April 2024 in Virginia Magistrate Court.
