‘Victim’ charged with perjury after opening false hijacking case

On Monday, 01 April 2024 at approximately 17:00, a suspect was arrested by the Eldorado Park SAPS members on a charge of perjury.

It is alleged that the complainant came to the Police Station to open a case of hijacking. The complainant alleged that whilst he was parking the car at his place of residence, he was hijacked by five unknown men.

On further investigation, it was revealed that the complainant lied under oath. He failed to return his company vehicle to his workplace.

The suspect will appear before court soon.

The Eldorado Park Station Commander Brigadier Maluleke has made a call to the public to refrain from registering false cases as that diverts critical resources from investigating actual criminal cases.

SAPS Eldorado Park can reached on 011 946 0300, 082 444 3001 and residents are once more reminded to continue reporting all illegal activities to the SAPS Crime Stop Hotline on 08600 10111.
