Continued interventions to rid the streets of the illegal possession of firearms yielded success when police members arrested a suspect with a unlicensed firearm on Thursday evening.
Last night, Thursday, 04 April 2024, the members of Bishop Lavis police responded to a complaint of a shooting in Deer Road, Bishop Lavis when the members saw a male person, fitting the description of suspect given earlier, getting into a Toyota Hilux light delivery vehicle and sped off.
The police members tried to stop the vehicle but the driver picked up speed upon which a high-speed chase ensued. The vehicle was brought to a halt, with the suspect being arrested by the members as he disembarked the vehicle. He was searched and found in possession of a semi-automatic firearm and ammunition which were seized.
The adult male faces a charge of the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. He will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ court on Monday
