Efforts to rid the Western Cape of firearms in the hands of criminals to threaten the safety and security in our communities yielded success when a suspect was arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm on Tuesday evening, 30 April 2024.
Members of the Grassy Park Crime Prevention Unit followed up information they received of an armed suspect at a premises in Eland Avenue, Lotus River. A description of the suspect was given and the members searched the premises. The suspect fitting the description was found in the house and a .38 Special revolver with ammunition was confiscated. A 37-year-old man was arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He will appear in the Wynberg Magistratesā court on Thursday on the mentioned charges.
