The Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has condemned the brutal and senseless killing of a one-year-old child, which occurred on Sunday 26 May 2024 at about 10:30, at Ga-Makanye village in Mankweng policing area.
Police responded to a complaint of murder and upon arrival, they found community members gathered at the scene at the nearby bushes next to a local church. They commenced with initial investigation and discovered the body of a one-year-old boy, buried in a shallow grave with only the hands visible.
A case of murder was then opened. At this stage, the identity of the deceased and the motive behind the heinous act are still unknown.
The Provincial Commissioner has expressed profound shock and condemnation of this senseless act. “The loss of an innocent child in such a violent manner is absolutely heart breaking and unacceptable,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
“We assure the community that every possible resource is being deployed to apprehend those responsible for this crime, “concluded the provincial commissioner.
