Multiple shots were fired during a Cash In Transit robbery that occurred on the Northbound lane of the N2 in Nandi Drive – KZN.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa and the Verulam SAPS were conducting a Crime Prevention Operation on the north coast of Durban – KZN at approximately 05:41 when reports of a Cash-in-transit robbery in progress were received. Reaction Officers and SAPS Officials immediately routed to the call.
One arrival at the scene it was established that approximately 20 suspects with high calibre rifles opened fire on a vehicle transporting cash. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash prior to the arrival of First Responders. Several collisions occured after motorists attempted to steer clear of the gunfire.
No injuries were reported.
