SAPS remain focussed to rid the streets from drugs that are contributing to serious and violent crimes in our Province.
On Thursday, 20 June 2024, members attached to the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation’s Narcotics Section operationalised information about the cultivation and dealing in cannabis which led them to a farm located in Fynbos Avenue, Tierfontein in Malmesbury.
Upon arrival at the premises, the members ensued with a search during which they discovered a substantial quantity of dried cannabis, ready for packaging as well as 77 dagga plants which were seized. The members also seized laboratory equipment used for the cultivating of dagga, including lights, irrigation system and extractor fans. The discovery of drugs and the equipment seized, are estimated at about R1.3 million.
A 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with the discovery. He faces charges related to the illegal dealing and cultivation of dagga and is expected to make his first court appearance on the mentioned charges in the Malmesbury magistrates’ court on Monday, 24 June 2024.
