SAPS members in Tolwe are investigating cases of robbery with a firearm and for tampering with essential infrastructure, following an incident that took place in Glen Alpine Dam at Tolwe policing area, Capricorn District on Tuesday, 25 June 2024.
Police were summoned to the scene after the incident, whereby two security guards were ambushed by a group of suspects armed with firearms while on duty at the mentioned Dam.
The victims were threatened, tied up with cables, and robbed of cellphones. The suspects further managed to break a transformer and have stolen copper cables from a transformer worth about R340, 000.00. Thereafter, they loaded them in a wheelbarrow and fled the scene.
Police registered a robbery with firearm and tampering with essential infrastructure cases.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has called upon community members to come forward with positive information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects involved.
