The man entered Jimmy’s Liquor Legends on the corner of Goldman Street and 2nd Avenue shortly before 19:00, unaware that a robbery was in progress.
CCTV footage shows the man and his wife entering the store and collecting goods from the fridges before going to the till to pay.
While he is at the till, one of the robbers approaches him from behind and touches his elbow.
The man turns and is immediately shot in the face and collapses on the spot as his shocked wife rushes to his side.
The robber and his two accomplices seemed unfazed and casually walked out the store and down the street.
According to Florida CPF chairperson Farhaad Sardiwalla, he received a notification on a WhatsApp group and immediately rushed to the scene, where he met with Brandon Neveling of Bhekani Abantu Security.
“We immediately rushed to help the victim and support his wife. Unfortunately, we could see that he was fatally wounded. We handed the man over to paramedics when they arrived, and the scene to the police, who will carry out the investigation.”
