    November Muse-Letter.

    Treat or Trickery.

What wisdom we can take from Halloween?

    I did some googling.

Some economic trivia is Halloween accounts for a quarter of total money spent on sweets (candy) per year and 500 million is spent on costumes for … wait for it – PETS.

Halloween comes from an old Celtic festival tradition called ‘Samhain’ interestingly pronounced ‘all sow.’ Also interesting is that it’s at a time marking the end of summer, the end of harvest and the beginning of winter. It was believed that the veil separating the living and the dead was opened and this lead to rituals done not only for protection but also for the shamans to commune with the spirit realm for the purpose of predicting the future.
The current name Halloween comes from ‘all hallows eve.’ Hallows means to ‘honour as holy.’

My biggest take-aways from this time are:
    – The best way to predict your future is to start creating it.
    – Start sowing the seeds now and get dressed for success – don’t wait for the New Year to make changes.
    – Start with just one or two new habits and make them a ritual.
    – The only ghosts we need to ward off are the old ones still haunting our mindsets.
    – Any opportunity to celebrate life is a good one.
    – Honour yourself as holy (your pets too), treat yourself, just go easy on the candy (wink)

May you have a bewitchingly sweet successful November, haunted with good fortune.
