A dedicated multidisciplinary investigation task team, led by the Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI – HAWKS) in Limpopo Province, Major General Gopz Govender had successfully located and reunited a kidnapped businessman with his beloved family on Friday, 30 June 2023.
The multidisciplinary team was made up of; Limpopo HAWKS: Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit; National Crime Intelligence: MDOC; Limpopo Provincial Crime Scene Management; Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC); Burgersfort High Way Patrol and Bravalor Risk Private Investigators.
The team embarked on a 27 days intensive cyber forensic and unconventional Investigative methodologies to ensure the successful recovery of the victim, Mr Solly Tayob (65).
Mr Tayob, a Principal Dealership Owner of Burgersfort Toyota, Burgersfort Hyundai and Burgersfort Isuzu, was kidnapped on 2 June 2023 at about 19:45 from his Hyundai Dealership by heavily armed suspects with military precision.
The Hawks pursued the investigations with vigor and tenacity to ensure the safe return the victim.
The victim’s family has highly appreciated for the team’s intervention and its success and endurance.
Two accused that were arrested appeared in the Praktiseer Magistrates’ Court and they are due to reappear on Monday, 3 July 2023.
Police investigations are ongoing.
The National Head of the DPCI, Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya has commended the team for the work executed this far. He has further directed the leader that no stone should be left unturned until all those who were involved are brought to book.
