A 26-year-old store manager was shot dead during a robbery at a Shoprite Usave store in the town of Shihoko, Letsitele, Limpopo. The incident took place on Wednesday when four suspects entered the store and demanded money from the driver. During the scuffle, the driver was shot and killed at the scene, while five other employees suffered minor injuries. The suspects were able to escape and this sparked a search by police. Investigations are ongoing and authorities are insisting that anyone with information should come forward.
The victim was identified as Shaile Chipape of Seshego, outside Polokwane. The robbery resulted in the theft of two 5 kg packets of chicken, three mobile phones and R650. Police spokesman Col. Malesela Ledwaba stressed the need for public assistance to arrest the suspects. Individuals can submit any relevant information to Kol. Mavis Shilubane reports, contacts Crime Stop, visits a nearby police station or uses the MySAPS program. Meanwhile, police and emergency services responded to the incident but were unable to catch the fleeing suspects.
