On Tuesday 11 July 2023, Mahwelereng police were invited by Ivanplats Mine Management at Oasis Lodge in Mokopane to receive donation of uniform for 96 Community Policing Forum members.
SAPS Management and members present were, Provincial Corporate Communication Col William Mapaya, the Acting Station Commander of Mahwelereng SAPS Lt Col Remmone Jesu Sekgota, Provincial Man for Change Forum Lt Col Rossouw, and Vispol Support members, joined by IvanPlats Mine General Manager Arthur Oosthuizen with his team, Kgoshi David Kekana from Moshate, Traditional leaders and the Village Heads.
Ivanplats Mine General Manager Sustainability Mr Arthur Oosthuizen outlined the purpose of the event, handing over symbol of appreciation in support of their sustainability initiatives, which put the safety of the community and the environment first.
He further said “this is the beginning of the journey for community policing forum, as they are on the right path to assist the police in crime prevention and this is how their hard work is being appreciated.”
The community policing forum members from 8 villages of Mahwelereng policing area were issued with uniform comprising of reflective jacket, rechargeable torches, a whistle and a beanie for 96 members.
The Acting Station Commander Col Remmone Jesu remarked that, he was humbled by Ivanplats Mine initiative to support the police in their efforts to combat crime and maintain community safety.
He also commended the community policing forum for helping the community by offering time, and sharing information because there are things happening within the area that the police could miss.
He concluded that, the uniform should be worn as intended and effectively.
