Oscar Pistorius, the convicted murderer and former Olympic and Paralympic athlete, who was found guilty of killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, in a lovers’ quarrel, is making another bid for freedom.
Pistorius was sentenced to 13 years in prison in 2017 after being found guilty of murdering Steenkamp, a model, in 2013.
Pistorius had a bid for parole turned down in March, as he had not served the minimum time to be considered for release.
Pistorius has now approached the Constitutional Court to declare him eligible for parole.
He believes that he meets the requirements to be released and being kept in prison is an infringement on his rights.
However, the authorities believe that Pistorius must serve at least another year-and-a-half before becoming eligible for release.
