On Friday, 25 August 2023, members of the Western Cape Flying Squad received information about a suspicious vehicle in roaming the streets in Brackenfell. The members followed up the information and stop and searched the vehicle and found an imitation firearm and a knife inside the vehicle. It was later established that the suspects were part of a business robbery which was perpetrated in on Thursday in the shame area. The suspects aged between 24 and 38 were arrested on charges of business robbery, possession of an imitation firearm and the possession of a dangerous weapon.
They will appear in the Kuilsrivier Magistrates’ court on Monday.
In an unrelated matter members of Operation Restore received information about a hijacked vehicle that is on its way to Brown’s Farm and operationalized the information. The vehicle was stopped and searched in Mpozolo Street, Brown’ Farm and a search of the vehicle ensued in which a pistol with ammunition was confiscated and the hijacked vehicle recovered. The suspects aged 33 and 35 were arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and the possession of a hijacked vehicle.
Once charged they will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
