Millions of social grant beneficiaries are still without their money despite financial distributor Postbank announcing on Saturday evening that all monies have been paid into all beneficiaries accounts.
This week marked payment week for the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) which began on Tuesday with the older person’s grant. However a technical glitch with Postbank resulted in beneficiaries unable to access their funds.
TECHNICAL FAULT CLEARED
Some of the experiences relayed including not being able to purchase at retail stores, no withdraw at ATM’s and retail stores.
On Thursday evening, Postbank and SASSA issued a statement requesting the older person’s and pensioners are to return to stores and ATM’s on Friday as their money will be made available, however for many it was not true.
In a secondary statement on Saturday evening the bank says, “Postbank would like to confirm that SASSA social grants money for all beneficiaries has been credited into the accounts and the money is available for withdrawal from any available channels that include ATM’s, retailers and Post Office branches.”

Beneficiaries and their family members took to social media in frustrations as they contradicted SASSA and Postbanks statement as they say their accounts and cards still reflect no funds available.
In a tweet Lynda Shackleford says, “I had a resident go to 4 x PnP today, and there was no money in her account. So please explain how u can say there is money!”
While one beneficiary, Frederick Vanniekerk, revealed that the technical glitch has landed him in hospital.
“At casualty! No money for medication. Still waiting for disability pension”, says Vanniekerk.
