The swift response by the Police at Groblersdal in Sekhukhune District on Friday night 15 September 2023 has made a major breakthrough after the arrest two male suspects and recovered two illegal firearms with ammunition.
According to the information, the Police received a complaint of a business robbery in progress at a supermarket and immediately responded to the crime scene.
The Police tactically approached the scene while the suspects were still holding staff hostage at gun point.
It is reported that two male suspects aged 44 and 45 were subsequently nabbed while in the commission of the crime. Two firearms with 45 live round of ammunitions were confiscated. No injuries reported and nothing was stolen from the supermarket and the Liquor store.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the team for their sterling efforts in bringing the suspects to book and also for removing illegal firearms from the wrong hands.
The cases of business robbery and unlawful possession of firearm with ammunition are being investigated.
The suspects are expected to appear before Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Monday 18 September 2023.
