A 48-year-old suspect is expected to appear before Mookgopong Magistrates Court on Tuesday 26 September 2023 facing charges of possession of illicit cigarettes.
The suspect was on Saturday 23 September 2023 stopped and searched at Roedtan . He was found in possession of illicit cigarettes loaded into the vehicle he was driving, and the suspect was arrested on the spot
In another unrelated incident, a tactical Operation was conducted by the members of the Provincial Organised Crime Unit that resulted in the apprehension of a male suspect for possession and dealing in drugs in the Polokwane Policing area.
Police received information about a white Audi A4 motor vehicle that was allegedly distributing drugs at a local park next to Polokwane Provincial Hospital and operationalized on the tip-off. Subsequently, the motor vehicle fitting the description came to the park while the members were busy on the lookout for it. One male suspect, who was wearing all white clothes, comprising a T-shirt and track pants, approached the said motor vehicle and got inside it. A few moments later, the suspect vacated the motor vehicle that immediately drove off.
Afterwards, Police stopped and searched the suspect, who was found in possession of Kat and Crystal meth drugs with an estimated street value of R11 000-00 and was immediately placed under arrest on the spot.
The suspect, whose age is still to be determined, will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate Court on Tuesday 26 September 2023 facing charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the members for ridding this Province of Illicit Cigarettes and drugs.
