The police in Motetema have opened a case of murder and an inquest docket following the deaths of a couple at Moganyaka village outside Groblersdal in Sekhukhune District.
According to the information, on Saturday 14 October 2023 in the morning at about 07:30 the police responded to a complaint of a shooting incident. Upon arrival they discovered two lifeless bodies of a married couple in a pool of blood in their bedroom and a firearm next to the deceased man.
It is reported that a 41-year-old man and his wife (37) had a heated argument whilethey were in their bedroom. This happened in the evening of Friday 13 October 2023 at about 21:00.
It is further alleged that the following morning on Saturday 14 October their son, 20-year-old, decided to go home. On arrival at home he found both his mother and father lying in a pool of blood.
The motive behind the incident is not known and the police investigations are underway. The element of domestic violence cannot be ruled at this stage. .
It is reported that the deceased is a member of the South African Police Service, a Sergeant attached to Tembisa police station in Gauteng Province. According to the information the late Sergeant was on leave when the incident took place.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in LImpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe condemned the incident and further reiterated her appeal to couples and families to seek assistance from the professionals if they are facing domestic related problems to avoid these painful ending.
Police are investigating circumstances surrounding this gruesome incident.
