The SAPS Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has strongly condemned acts of vigilantism and mob-killings which are still taking place in some parts of this Province.
This condemnation is emanating from the alleged assault and brutal killing of a 43-year-old man at Mabangeni Village, Homu 14b section in Giyani.
The incident took place on Friday 13 October 2023 in the afternoon when a group of people travelling with a bakkie went on the rampage and forcibly took the man from his parental home in the said area and drove to an unknown location where they assaulted him with various objects. They allegedly accused him of being involved in the recent incident of stock theft.
The suspects later dumped the victim near his parental home. The police and emergency medical services were called and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A case of murder has been opened. The suspects in this matter are still unknown and there is no arrest.
“Our officers are working diligently to gather information and locate the suspects who committed this heinous act. We urge the community to come forward with any information that may assist us in our efforts”, concluded Lieutenant General Hadebe.
Anyone with information which can lead to the arrest of these suspects may contact Lieutenant Colonel Jim Mbhalati on 082 565 6491 or the nearest Police Station or Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or via MySAPSapp.
