Seismic testing has just been APPROVED off the coast of Plett and all the way to PE/Gqeberha.

It starts in January 2024, every few seconds, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 5 months. The blasts are heard for thousands of kilometres, whales stop singing, fish go deaf, plankton die. It has been approved by the Dept of Mineral Resources and Energy and will be executed by CGG (UK based). Even after the court case against Shell was won and the seismic testing was stopped off the Wild Coast, now it’s been approved here, over 12 000 square kilometres and through whale migratory routes!!

We have 20 days from 23 Nov 2023 to appeal. Plett Environment Forum is writing a formal appeal.
