Quick response by members of Marikana Visible Policing and Detectives resulted in the arrest of Bheki Mnguni (30) in the early hours of Monday morning, 27 November 2023.
Mnguni was arrested after the police responded to a business robbery in progress at a Wholesale store in the area. Upon noticing police presence, the suspects fled from the scene however, Mnguni was arrested. He was found in possession of a firearm with ammunition and a Ford Figo vehicle, allegedly used during the commission of the crime. Furthermore, the police recovered cellular phones, belonging to the Wholesale staff members, liquor and cigarettes.
The accused appeared before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 29 November 2023. He was remanded in custody until his second court appearance on Thursday, 07 December 2023. Investigations into the matter continue.
The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena thanked all members for their collaborative efforts and quick response that resulted in the arrest.
