Maclear SAPS recover 220 sheep valued over R175 000

The Acting District Commissioner Brig Asogran Naidoo applauded members from Maclear for their swift reaction that led to the recovery of 220 sheep valued at R175 200-00.

It is alleged that on Wednesday, 6 December 2023 at about 22:00, a farmer at Ntushuntushu A/A heard her dogs barking, and she peeped through the window, and saw about seven people marshalling a flock of sheep and lamb out of her kraal.

Immediately, police were summoned. Moments later, the suspects were seen a few kilometres away from the scene.

The suspects managed to flee and disappeared in the nearby bushes, leaving the stock behind.

The stock was taken back to the owner, who identified it with relevant markings. A case of stock theft was opened for further investigation.

“Even though the suspects managed to flee, we take pride in the fact that the stock was recovered. We, therefore, commend members for their prompt reaction. We hope that our detectives will link and arrest those who were involved” added Brig Naidoo.
