The Police in Apel at Sekhukhune District have launched a manhunt for suspects following a business robbery at a shopping center, on Wednesday 14 December 2023.
The complainant who is a security guard, alleged that he was working night duties at the shopping center, when he was ambushed by a group of heavily armed suspects. They pointed him with firearms and demanded the safe keys. They also instructed him to take them to rooms were others were sleeping.
They then robbed them off cell phones and an undisclosed amount of money from the shop. They bombed the safe but failed to open it. Since it was during load shedding, electricity returned and they fired several shots and further robbed a plasma TV and other items and fled the scene.
Police were summoned to the scene. They recovered some of the stolen items including a plasma TV abandoned at the streets. Police opened a case of business robbery.
