Festive season operations in the Western Cape are in full swing as police members continue with crime prevention operations to ensure the safety and security for all inhabitants and visitors in the province.
On Sunday, 24 December 2023, members of the Harare Crime Prevention Unit noticed a suspicious looking vehicle in Fukuta Street, Makhaza and when the driver of the white Hyundai saw the police approaching, he sped off. The police members gave chase and forced the vehicle to a halt when the tyre burst. The occupants of the vehicle jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. One suspect was apprehended.
Upon further investigation the members found and seized three plastic packets containing compressed dagga with an estimated weight of three kilogram and two cellular telephones which were found in the vehicle.
The suspect will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ court on Wednesday, once charged for the illegal possession of dagga.
