“Where is my march for justice?” Victim asks

After more than a year, after Lorraine Prinsloo, 57, was brutally attacked in her home on the farm Blombos with a panga, she sits on the veranda of Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday, February 7 and asks where her march for justice is.

Outside the court voices of protesters singing, dancing and gathering for the bail application of Stephan Greeff, 27, and Piet Groenewald, 67, who appeared in Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court for the third week.

They are facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, after Greeff and Groenewald allegedly assaulted an employee with a pickpace, incite a security dog to bite him and allegedly injected him with an unknown fluid. The purpose of the protesters outside court is, according to them, to have justice shot by oppose the bail application.

“Where is our march for justice,” Prinsloo asked despondently on Wednesday.

Ms. Magda Coetzee (AfriForum Trauma Unit), released comfortingly with her hand on Prinsloo’s shoulder.

Prinsloo’s alleged attacker would be tried. Despite Prinsloo, her family and me. Coetzee had been waiting for the Magistrate’s Court early in the morning, the case was postponed by 10am, as the accused’s legal representative was booked for two days.

“We struggled to get to the court. When I finally showed my documents and explained that I was here for a hearing we were involved in, we were allowed. But then the security at the court did not want to allow my witnesses or counselor in court, as they are vigilant to let anyone in, because of the bail application of Greeff and Groenewald.

Groblersdal’s Magistrate’s Court is a farce. I certainly can’t handle the trial without my witnesses or my counselor. Magda certainly helped me a lot and came to my rescue, ”says Prinsloo.

Victor Seroka, 34, is facing charges of housebreaking with intent to steal, trespassing, robbery with aggravating circumstances and an alternative charge of attempted murder, as well as animal abuse.

Shortly after Ms. Lorraine Prinsloo was attacked in her home with a panga.
“It’s very difficult for me to be here. It feels like I have a hole in my stomach. It was particularly difficult to face the accused for the first time. ”

The hearing, which was supposed to be held on Wednesday and Thursday, was postponed to April. Prinsloo was discouraged to hear the case was postponed as they “waited a long time to get the hearing date, as the case was postponed over and over over the past year.”

Prinsloo was overpowered on December 23, 2022, in her home on their family game farm, 28km outside Groblersdal on the N11, and repeatedly hit with a panga. She shows her hands on Wednesday where it was cut in several places by the repeated blows she tried to fend off.

On the morning of the incident, she was preparing for Christmas dinner in her kitchen.

Michael, her husband, left home shortly before 8am, after the alarm went off at their son’s house, which also lives on the farm. His son was on his way back from vacation.
While Mr. Prinsloo was gone, the attacker on Ms. Prinsloo crashed.

The attacker took a wallet and cellphone in the room, then insisted on shoes.

The moment they went out of the bedroom door, Ms. Prinsloo bumped the attacker forward, jumped back and closed the door.
She called loosehead alarms and called her husband and farmers on their radio for help.

Almost 100 farmers were on the scene quickly, as well as Mr. Piet Groenewald of Wips (Wildlife Investigation and Protection Services), other members of this security company, Loskop Alarms and Swift EMS.

The house was smeared everywhere with blood like Ms. Prinsloo wrestled with her attacker.

She was taken immediately after Groblersdal Hospital, where she was stabilized, after which she was taken after Life Midmed Hospital.

Wips also used a tracker to follow the attacker. Mr. Groenewald (WIPS) and his team found the suspect, about eight kilometers from the Prinsloos’ home, within an hour and a half. Mr. At the time, Groenewald reported that they would not be able to make an arrest so soon, if it was not for the help of the farmers in the area.

The suspect was arrested and items stolen on the farm were found in his possession.
Ms. Prinsloo got 240 stitches to her head.

Seroka has been in custody since his arrest.
