German tourist murdered after PICKING UP HITCHIKER- three foreign suspects in court

Limpopo. -A German tourist (74) died on Saturday after he was allegedly assaulted in the Northam area of the Waterberg district.

According to Col. Police spokesperson Malesela, three suspects, between the ages of 24 and 46 years old, arrested for the murder.

The deceased drove from Botswana to South Africa on Friday. In Lephalale (Ellisras), he apparently gave a HITCHIKER a ride. The deceased allegedly asked about accommodation in the North West. It is believed that a friendship arose between the deceased and HITCHIKER, after which the HITCHIKER drove the deceased’s vehicle.

The HITCHIKER allegedly informed his friends of an unknown amount of money the tourist would receive.

The three suspects were allegedly with the tourist after accommodation where he was tied up, assaulted and his bank’s pink code was claimed. He was robbed of money and possessions, after which the vehicle’s license plate was apparently removed. The deceased, who was constantly assaulted, was driven to a secluded dirt road at a certain farm in Northam. There he was apparently dragged and left the bushes.

Security officials and a member of rural security noticed the suspected vehicle with the driver and investigated. They saw blood on the suspect’s T-shirt and notified the police.

Upon arrival, the deceased’s body was found. Two suspects who dragged the body into the bushes and fled were arrested later that evening with possessions of the deceased in their possession in the North West.

The suspects, foreign citizens, appear today on charges that include murder in the Northam Magistrate’s Court.

“The victim had trusted this ruthless criminal, but he turned against him and, together with his friends, tortured and brutally killed him. We will work hard to secure a water tight case that will result in a lengthy conviction for these perpetrators, ”says Lt. Gen. Thembi Hadebe.
