Uncertainty about his date of birth: army GENERAL in service four years longer than actually employed
The Department of Home Affairs is investigating an army general who – according to his identity number – has become “younger” four years over the past few years. Brigadier General Vuyo Luke-the inspector general of the SAGD-‘s identity number was changed in 2015 on the military’s staff system with the result that he was employed four years longer and consequently at the end of this month-when he retires-on A larger pension can claim. Last year, whistle -blowers asked the Minister of Defense to investigate the issue urgently before his pension was paid to him, but the investigation died, a silent death. This may be possible because the division over which Luke controls is precisely the division that works with such investigations. Luke said on inquiry that the confusion with his ID numbers began in 1994 when he returned from the then Swaziland as a previous Umkonto WeSiswe member in exile from the then Swaziland.
