Police are on the lookout for group of men who allegedly overpowered and robbed an elderly couple on their farm in the Heibron district.
On Monday, 04 Mach 2024 at between 02:00 and 03:00, the couple, Me Sefora Ntombela (66) and Mr Madala Ntombela (68), woke up when a group of unknown men were in their farm house at Holfontein trying to open their bedroom door. The suspects managed to overpower the couple and came into the bedroom. The suspects ransacked the house looking for money and fled with the couple’s cellphones, bank cards and other items which will be verified and confirmed by the couple later.
Me Ntombela went to the workers’ quarters to get help to summon the police. The couple was slightly injured.
Various units are still on the scene, following up on all possible leads. Investigations are continuing on charge of house robbery for now. The Provincial Commissioner for Free State, Lt Gen Baile Motswenyane ordered mobilisation of adequate resources from various units and stakeholders to make sure that the team detect and bring perpetrators to book.
