Police seize drugs worth more than R1.5 million

The commitment by members to rid our communities from the plight of drug abuse and related crime, proved positive when members seized a substantial quantity of drugs estimated at a value exceeding R1.5 million.

On Sunday, 17 March 2024 at about 09:40 members of Harare Crime Prevention Unit were busy with routine crime prevention duties at 33 Block when they were stopped by a member of the public who informed them of a house where drugs are sold. The members immediately operationalised the information and proceeded to the identified address. Upon arrival they found the owner of the house inside busy processing dagga. During the search they found 12 dagga cigarettes, 6 stops of dagga and some cash. The suspect was arrested and detained at Harare SAPS for illegal dealing in dagga. He is expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charge.

On the same day members attached to Milnerton received information about a possible drug storage facility at a premises in Sandrift. Upon arrival at the address they searched and found a substantial quantity of cocaine, mandrax rock and tik with an estimated value of R1.5 million. They subsequently arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the discovery. He is scheduled to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ court once charged.
