A video of dozens of passengers jumping out of the windows of a Putco bus which caught alight on Moloto Road on route to Pretoria has gone viral on social media.
According to various reports, at least 22 people were left injured as they tried to escape the flames engulfing the outside out of bus, and are receiving medical attention at various hospitals.
The viral video, posted by activist and advocate Yusuf Abramjee on his X [formerly Twitter] account, shows passengers jumping from the windows of the burning bus.

OFFICIAL COMPANY STATEMENT
In an official company statement, Putco spokesperson Lindokuhle Xulu said they have launched an immediate investigation into the cause of the incident which took place on earlier Wednesday.
“The report that I have says 22 people have been injured but our managers are at the different hospitals tallying those numbers. We will have a better understanding at a better stage in terms of the number of people injured.”
Putco bus service operate mainly from Mpumalanga and Groblersdal to most parts of Gauteng daily.
