Fire breaks out at Louis Botha orphanage-BY Wanda Olivier
GAUTENG. – House 11 of the Louis Botha children’s home in Queenswood in Pretoria caught fire yesterday.
A total of 12 boys and three adults who are at home in the house lost beds, bedding, school clothes and personal belongings when the fire broke out. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but the house’s upper floor and structure suffered damage.
No one was injured during the fire.
When the orphanage announced on social media that they needed food for today, the community in the Moot of Pretoria opened their hearts and donated.
“Louis Botha Kinderhuis is in need of a few things due to a fire breakout. The need is urgent. Rooms were destroyed in the fire, everything burnt down. Children’s beds, clothes, everything. They will also be unable to sleep in the burned down rooms.”
The orphanage expressed its gratitude for help given during and after the fire. The children also received counselling.
Jakaranda Kinderhuis supports Louis Botha Kinderhuis as much as possible, but urgent help is needed to rebuild so that the house can once again be a safe haven for the children.
The orphanage management says thank you for donations of blankets, food and money that have been received so far.
